forget me as I slip through the crevices of your fingers
sliding down into the cracks of wooden floorboards
far far away from you

forget me as i float silently in the sea
a wandering bird mistakened me for a sea goddess
my salty tears fusing with the salty ocean

forget me as i spend friday nights alone
candlelit dinners with a book and a cup of tea
my flighty heart can't sit still

forget me as the seconds and minutes and hours tick by
don't worry, my dear
no one said i was fond of myself either

forget me as the seasons blend into one another
i am just a distant memory to you now
hear my name and maybe you can place a face to it

The author's comments:
When I am writing poetry, my pieces tend to lack the punctuation and capitalization that is needed, for it is merely a style I wanted to apply to my work. :) This was inspired by the flower Forget-Me-Not, and the range of emotions I felt during the time I wrote this.
