i'm a piece of paper
in a paper shredder
a virgin sacrifice to
the whirring blades below
for the plunge
i'll bring my heart and my memories
and my past will be destroyed
we will prevail at last
as i am chopped into a thousand fragile pieces of confetti
perfect and scattered

i wrote this when i was feeling as though the world would be a much better place without me. i was thinking that people would, in fact, benefit from my demise.
