Her Battle, Your Ignorance

You’d never guess, because she hides behind her smile.
In her world it’s unfair, it’s deceitful.
That they could go behind her back and talk all that stupid trash
Makes her feel like the smallest girl in the world.
Would you lend her a hand?
Would you even look her way?
Would you say all those things you think every day?
She’s alone in a fight that’s not hers to battle.
The walls close in on her as she tries to scream.
Can’t you hear her? Can’t you see?
She’s underwater struggling to breathe.
All you do is stare, with wide eyes
All you do is laugh, in silent cries
You’d never know, because she wouldn’t let you see.
She’s praying for a change she’s not even sure will come.
