Love Hate

With every word they cut people down;
They tear them to bits, and shred them around,
Leaving their particles scattered in sight,
To them they're worthless, just a big mess;
Cutting so deep, slicing so far,
Tearing right in, and then back through again;
Leaving them hopeless, and despondent in sin.

They're cruel and mean, we plot for their finish,
And rejoice in their diminish;
Pray fire and brimstone will smother their souls,
In earnest we wait for that sound,
Hoping soon they'll be hidden and bound.
Still with every breath they breathe, they cut people down,
So they can build themselves up;
Oh, we can't wait to see them drown.

As we were plotting their ruin,
And empowering our heart's revenge;
Suddenly between the rush and the do in,
A voice came and whispered, Christ blood doth avenge;
The words hit like nothing, but a guilt lit dart,
Making all the hate, turn and say, sin, how great thou art,
Filled with tears, we pled our own case,
Hoping that grace, would make evil dissipate,
So that love would take its place.

So next we see them, just tell them,
No matter what you do, we are here for you!
When the pain is too much,
We're wishing that you didn't have to suffer such.
If it helps, please cut us down, burn us to the ground
Make us hurt in your place, we're scrap;
Call us names, force us to our knees, we'll take the bad rap,
Because all we want you to see,
Christ died, shedding his blood to save,
Crush us, annihilate all our trust, with all your words you think and cuss,
But for you, and Christ's love we will be brave,
Just know, it's Christ you see shining right through us.
