Not Alone

I stand alone
watching the sun die into
the horizon:
its casket.
The ocean kisses my skin
as I carve your name
into the sandy plain.
I need you here -
your embrace -
to cradle me as if I descended the womb,
as an infant, once more.
The water becomes calm,
like my mind as it is reminded of
all our memories.

I'm not alone, now.
You're in my heart -
never vanishing.
You're the hum through the wind
and the obscurity that
cascades behind me - a shadow,
my protection.
You're a flame,
the flame of love,
consumes my heart.
You're my enchantment,
my love.
