Her talents are caged birds
They sit at windows
Perched for you to see, yet
Hidden
From the world
Singing to themselves, and
Allowed only a glimpse of
The ever-wanted limelight
They dream of days flying
In sunlit parks
Before the sobering realization-
They’re behind bronze bars-
Divine, warm comfort,
They profess their soliloquies
To shadows
Returning to empty corners
