Sea of Regrets

If you love something let it go,
And if it loves you back it will stay,
That’s what I always thought,
So I let you go and waited for you to stay,
But you left.
I hated you for a long time,
But loved you even longer,
And looking back I see,
That didn't’t let you go,
But I pushed you away
And looked away when you tried to make your way back.
So I am sorry,
And as I look out to the ocean,
The waves crash like my dreams for us,
And my regrets flood over my feet.
