Oblivion
My daughter calls me up in the evening,
Yesterday like Today.
"What's up?" Her tone rings brighter in my right ear. For a second I picture her as a younger child, then remind myself of her teen age.
"I'm at school, remember?" I answer her.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
Her oblivion echoes.
I answer, "You haven't asked me that in maybe three years."
I am oblivious of the date she last questioned my state, with the reason being, 'just because.'
She proceeds to ask me if I've eaten dinner yet.
