The butterfly.

It flies
Away

Begging
To understand,
To comprehend
The world it entered.
It leaves the world
Of darkness
Becoming
A member
In the world
Of endless light.
Its wings flutter
Rhythmically
As the sun
Reflects
A rainbow
Of colors.
Feasting on nectar
It flutters from flower to flower
Devouring the nectar
Like a child
With dessert.
The prairie
Is a stage.
The butterfly
A confident performer.
It prances
Like a dancer
Ready for show time
From the peach of dawn
To the grape of night
It flutters.
Whoosh.
It travels
With the wind.
Endlessly.
