A Dreamer's Desire

By , North Smithfield, RI
He can not be sure of
what is seen in
this dream.
Sights so clear and sharp,
melt to damp and abstract.
He wants to understand but his
fears overtake him and
like a deadman he falls to the earth

He can not be sure of
what is heard in
this dream.
Sounds piercing and harsh,
are reduced to mellow and silent.
He tries to grasp its meaning but his
fears control him and
like a child he covers his ears.

He can not be sure of
what he feels in
this dream.
Love so reassuring and sweet,
stripped to cold and shattered.
He needs to know why but his
fears control him and
like a baby he falls asleep
