March 6
I watched my dad cry today
I saw the tenderness inside his heart
That was pouring out of his eyes
Burdens that broke the weak
He held his face for too long.
The opening in the heart was brief,
Soon it was raining again
I find that I will never see
Those forsaken tears
That washed pain away.
All I saw in his face
Was disappointing glances
For once in his life he broke away
From what kept him strong
And he crumbled to the ground.
The missing link he kept in his heart
Was stricken with a sentence
Time was swift, fast and deep
And his link would soon dissolve
Melting slowly away in his hands.
I watched my dad pick himself up today
After crying for only one
Never again will I see that weakness
Show through his heart.
Never again.
