Your Rubik's Cube

Life
Is like your Rubik’s cube.
It has one inevitable outcome
But many different methods.
At first, you turn it and turn it
And are so happy
To have one side finally perfect,
Only to realize that you’ll have to mess it up
To get the other sides, too…
As you get older your try to view it logically,
Rather than just seeing what works
But you’re noticing
That that’s not always the best.
There are times when you just want
To peel off all of the stickers
And lay them in place
But you don’t, even though you’re not sure
What you’re trying to prove.
Then there was that time when you thought
Everything might just finally
Click into place,
Only to drop the whole thing
Down the stairs, and have to
Pick up the pieces.
You may not be the one to solve it in 60 seconds,
But you’ll have fun trying, anyway.
And no, I haven’t solved
My Rubik’s cube
And you may not have solved
Yours
But someone once told me
That in the end I’ll look back and realize
That there were always two types of people –
Those who messed up my Rubik’s cube
To see if they could faze me,
And those who messed up my Rubik’s cube
To challenge me to do it again, faster,
before the setting sun
Faded every last brightly coloured
Square.
