Left

Soldiers marching one by one

Right

Every soldier holds a gun.

Left

Soldiers like paper dolls

Right

Blindly listen to the call.

Right Face

All lined up in a row

Close Ranks March

Will not stop for wind or snow.

Forward March

Stomp, stomp, through the town

Left

Brave soldiers give no ground.

Right

Noble soldiers in the fight

Left

Do not stop to see what's right.

Right

People start to run away

Left

Soldiers hunger for a fray.

Halt

Shouts of anger fill the land

Present Arms

Battle is close at hand.

Fire at will

Soldiers do not hear the scream

In this battle, they are supreme.

Even children start to fall

Only one man sees at all.

'Stop!' he cries, to no avail

Soldiers determined not to fail.

Man falls to his knees

Soldiers deaf to his pleas.

Bloody battle now complete

Man does not rise to feet.

Crimson badge upon his chest

Fate of a traitor now confessed.

Right Shoulder Arms

Soldiers blind to what is right

Move out into the night.

About Face

Forward March

I was studying the Vietnam Conflict and the Kent State shootings when I was inspired to write this. I want people to feel a sense of blind obedience and empty violence.
