Splash, splash, splash....
Temptation.

Splash, splash, splash....

Longing.

A toe skimming the surface; a brief sensation of submersion.
A drop of warm water clinging to skin.
A taste of what could be.

Splash, splash, splash....

A foot breaking the surface. Complete; unyielding.

Splash, splash, splash...

An ankle, a calf. The feeling of salty relief.
Another foot, another ankle, another calf.

Splash, splash, splash...

Wading further, nothing satisfies.
Knees submerged.
Thighs, stomach, arms, shoulders.
A delicious pressure on all sides.

Splash, splash, splash...

Chin, mouth, ears, eyes.
Panic.

Splash, splash, splash...

Fingers raised, grasping at wind.
Then grasping at water.
Temptation replaced by fear.
Longing of freedom replaced by longing for life.

Splash, splash, splash.

Breath gone. Thought gone. Hope gone.
Submerged at will. Losing against it.
Then...

Splash, splash, splash...

A strong grip. A pull. A hope.

Splash, splash, splash...

A struggle. A part that still wants the relief, still wants death.
But a part that still wants life.

Splash, splash, splash....

A beach. A breath. A hand who saved you.
Temptation behind, but not forgotten.

Splash, splash, splash...

The idea, the festering, the action, the loss of control, the submergence, the grasp for help, the reluctance to stop, the struggle to chose, the relief of ending... This is temptation. Always there in relation to everything.
