Some baby ducks,
A lake,
And a weeping willow tree.
The first things I remember, as a child.
I see pictures of what…
Used to be,
But the only thing I remember is
My weeping willow tree.
The birthdays, the reunions, the memories, that
I will never know.
My world was green, the same color as
My weeping willow tree. The one that sprouted
To the side of the river.
The one that I would lean against, to go
Fishing
With my dad.
Where we watched baby ducks take their first waddle, and
I took my first steps as well.
So many adventures that I shouldn’t know.
Why is it that I only know the life I lived here, by this lake?
There is something magical about that tree, a sort of
Mystic quality.
All I can remember of my childhood, was green-
A beautiful aquamarine green. The green of the pond, of the sun against the water.
The green of the grass, where I used to lay with my dad, soft against my tiny hands and delicate cheeks.
And last- the green of the tree. The green of the leaves that fall like a spout of water over the ground, with leaves that tremble in the wind, and are green all year round.
A rich, untampered green.
A green that only nature can possibly give birth to.
A green that has been my memories, my childhood adventures, always seeming larger than they actually were-
My emerald city.
The first breaths of my world were green.
There’s an old saying “you come from dust, and to dust you will return.”
Ending my life the same way as I started.
