"The truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it." - Flannery O'Connor

Don’t tell me Never Again
I have seen hate in men’s eyes
How easily the weak minds of the petrified masses may be bent
Into anvils on which to beat their own destruction

Don’t tell me Never Again
I have seen the world stand by
And weakly wag a finger
While with empty words threaten action
Against those they would never dare defy

Don’t tell me Never Again
I have seen men hold their lives in their hands
And they are too scared to lose them

To seize and save them
Men put on the hood of their own execution before they see a painful truth

Don’t tell me Never Again
Only when we stop waiting on the watching world
And trusting that such a thing could never happen
Can you tell me never again
Only when we are willing to fight for our lives
And defend ourselves against evil
Can you tell me never again
Only when we are willing to see the truth
Will the truth be Never Again

This was a response to discussing "Night" and the Holocaust that I scribbled in the margin of my English notebook.
