The sun went through the shade,
Like sand through a hand.

The birds chirped,
Like a child’s laugher.

Dew glimmered on the grass,
Like tears of joy on a mothers face.

The world awoke,
Like morning came.

Good use of similes in the work. Just make sure you include the apostraphe in "mothers"--"mother's". Also, laughter
