"As I hide behind these books I read, while scribbling my poetry,
like art could save a wretch like me, with some ideal ideology that no one can hope to achieve.
And I am never real; it is just a sketch of me.
And everything I made is trite and cheap and a waste of paint, of tape, of time." - Bright Eyes

Silence comes forth after merciless murmurs
The world was washed anew
She perched on the side of a curb
Toes curled over the edge
Feet,
Ears,
Nose
Burn from the cold
The street shimmered with streetlamps
Scattered like shattered mirrors
Droplets clung to blades of grass
Gleaming like gems of a king
Inhaling the damp scent
A scent of comfort
Of soil and earth
The clouds are dark
Yet grow calm
Silently slipping away
Houses
And cars
And plants
Dripping by their edges
She exhales a cloud of white
As she leaves her perch to go
Escape the cold and wet
And being born once more
A smile forever on her lips
For her favorite moment of all:
The calm after a storm

“If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

Why aren't there hundreds of comments under this poem, I'm wondering. Your poem has such wonderful flow, both from word to word as well as from line to line. Your diction is spectacular, your imagery so vivid. "The Calm After a Storm" is so good. Most certainly magazine worthy.
