The beautiful red-orange blend,
The elegant, feather-like motion:
A falling leaf is the most incredible sight
of autumn.

The light, brisk sheet
Swaying to and fro,
Transforming the simplest task of falling
Into a complicated, amusing dance.

All of nature turns its head
To enjoy this remarkable spectacle.
Just as the leaf is about to hit the ground
And this show is about to end,
The wind gently strikes,
Spiraling the leaf back up into the air,
Insisting that the show go on.
This brief second is a new stanza of the leaf's entertaining performance.
Then, as quickly as it has begun,
This movement is over.
The leaf repeats the chorus,
Its slow, swaying descent.

The leaf finally lands,
Softly, lightly, gently.
But wait:
The show is not over.
Another leaf is disconnected from the twig,
And another,
And another.
They all begin their slow journey downward.

Alike in motion,
Alike in elegance.
But different in detail,
Different in shape.
Each leaf is unique,
Like snowflakes,
Like people.
Each has something special to offer.
Something different from the rest.

Each leaf can put on an individual
performance.
Each individual performance is remarkable.
However, when put together,
The performance is extraordinary.
There is not only one elegant leaf,
But numerous.
Instead of one talented performer,
There are millions.
When one finishes its dance,
Another takes its place.

All of nature now stares;
The show is breathtaking.
Each leaf plays its part,
Making the performance way beyond
incredible,
Making the performance way better than it could have been
With one leaf alone.

I like the thought: individual is remarkable, but working together could creat the miracle.
