I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day. -E.B. White

We stowed that tiny white pill

underneath our tongues.

Only waiting for a sign to show

what life really is about.

After I blinked, I gazed into your

sublime eyes.

You look back.

But we don’t speak because we are scarred

that even the smallest noise can start

an avalanche.

But maybe that’s what we need.

Something to hoist us up and take us somewhere new.

I imagine it.

Where we would go.

A world that resembled a white piece of paper.

Nothing.

Just you and I, and our white tablet.

We will paint the universe with our eyes.

And we will just leer at our masterpiece.

I blink again and reality takes over.
