White

White is pure
The wings of a dove
Or the wings of an angel
White is healthy
The colour of good bones
And pretty straight teeth
White is burning
Like a branding iron
That has sat in the fire too long

Black

Black is sneaky
Creeping up on us
Like a sly panther
Black is smart
Knows how to smother us
And trap us
Black is depression
The death of our souls
That cuts us off from the rest
