Walking down the Path I took-
My eyes began to wander
Do I stop- turn- go forward
My Thoughts begin to change

I beg my Thoughts to remain-
But they fight me ever still
The sun is setting- my time is running out-
It is a Choice I can not make

But I hold my head up high-
So no one can see-
My conflicted Heart
Does not know where to lie

Someday a Light will shine through-
To catch my shifting attention
A guiding Star
I must be headed in the right direction

The author's comments:
I was inspired by Emily Dickinson's work and style. Just as she did I i used dashes to create pauses and and therefore emphasize certain phrases. To bring attention to many nouns in her poems, Dickinson capitalized them. I capitailized the words I wanted to stand out in each stanza which showed the main points throughout the poem. The idea of becoming lost in the woods is symbolic to becoming lost in your life and the doubt that surrounds you when you do not know where to go. the setting sun is representative of the feeling that time is running out in your life to make a decision. although it may feel like time is running out, but we are still young and and have a lot of time to find our way
