We Are All As One

I placed my hand on the keys, and the piano started to sing
It sung with the voice of an angel,
Whispering throughout the night
It sung a song of sympathy
And the notes soared through the sky
I started my crescendo;
The sound made me feel powerful
Like the Alfa of a pack of wolves
I was ahead of everyone – the centre of attention, and
The apple of everybody’s eyes.
In my eyes, though, the music was in control
The notes controlled me; the keys did the playing
Not me
I was the violin, not the bow.
The higher the crescendo went, the faster my heart raced
It sounded like a metronome; my own, personal metronome
Tick
Tick
Tick
Tick
Tick.
The sound continued to beat like a drum as I played my piece
The song became softer as the notes decrescendo
But my hands continued to fly from key to key
As the music slowed, so did my heartbeat
That was when I noticed the truth
The piano and I; we were one
I was the piano, and it was me
We were one, living together in perfect harmony
We were one like a string of notes creating a melody
We were simply one.
