The Game
I’m scared
Scared of disappointing
Expectation a burden on my shoulders
Shame and self failure as punishment
I love it.
I hate it.
Should I not achieve satisfactory,
the penalty is a mental wound discouraging courageousness
for the future
With succeeding,
relief is brief
Anxiety is brought once again
by the increasingly higher standards and ever increasing expectation
I have set for myself
They teach us mistakes are a necessity to succeed
That they are to be praised
But when one is committed,
opportunities for improvement disappear
I want it.
The whistle blows
and the game begins.
