Living

December 13, 2011
By Anonymous

The dread of not existing
Has haunted my conscience too long.
It is time for me to accept
That I am nothing more or less
Than an accident of nature.

The awe I feel
That life could occurre at all
Overpowers my senses.
Intricate, yet flawed,
In a way allowing more beauty.

How lucky am I
To linger in this beautiful world
When infinite possible lives
Never will?
How ungrateful would it be
To complain of life's brevity?

I am done with fear.
Wonder is enough.
Love is enough.
Life is enough.
So I've opened my eyes...
It's time to start living.

"Try to learn to breathe deeply,
really to taste food when you eat,
and when you sleep, really to sleep.
Try as much as possible to be
wholly alive, with all your might,
and when you laugh, laugh like hell,
and when you get angry, get good
and angry. Try to be alive. You will
be dead soon enough."
William Saroyan

Thank you Sany :)

Excellent poem! I really like the pondering feeling as well as some of the questions it raises. My only criticism would be that you spelled 'occur' wrong. Other than that, excellent work!
