Too Young
I took a walk out on the beach,
To where you used to take me
The waves crashing beneath my feet
Whisper they’ll take me to where you’ll be
Life has been rather lonely lately
Since you up and left me
Days are spent spilling tears
Your face is what I wish to see
I ponder if there’s something more, a good day to come
But since you’re not around, my mood is often glum
I always look up to the sky
My question, on repeat, will always be simply “why?”
I wish I could bring you back,
Protect from that awful attack
Why couldn’t I have been there?
You were too young, it’s not fair
