"A beautiful personality shines brighter than any pretty face"

Count the seconds, they’re passing slowly
You take them for granted
The watch and wait in silence
For the ending to come
Like the wilting flowers
And the last rays of sunset fading
Soon you’ll be wishing you spent them with dignity, with pride, with honor
With love

Count the seconds, they’re passing slowly
You take them for granted
They watch and wait in silence
I hope you were watching the stars as they each, in turn, spelled out your answers
They were there all along, you shouldn’t have looked further
You shouldn’t have fought you way through
You should’ve seen all your luck

Count the seconds, they’re passing slowly
You take them for granted
They watch and wait in silence
Take my advice
Look over there; at all you’ve been given
Be grateful, make it last
Live for the moment
You never know
What you could lose, with each and every passing minute
Listen to the words you’ve been told-keep them close, you may forget them like I have

The seconds have been counted
You took them for granted
They had watched and waited in silence
For the ending to come
Like the wilting flowers
And the last rays of sunset fading
You wish you had spent them with dignity, with pride, with honor
With love

I wished I could’ve convinced you
Before the news was sent on by a friend on the telephone
And you wouldn’t even let your own selfish feelings win out over your heart
No one was ever there to convince me
I wanted you to know from my experience, but that will always remain a mystery to you
You don’t need to know these secrets
I’m not going to waste my time telling you; I’ve finally learned my lesson
I’m going back to my family to make every second count
Instead of them being counted for me

I lost my dad about two years ago. I didn't appreciate him at all, and now I can't tell him how important he was to us. This is dedicated to him.
