Nowhere to Go

She's the girl in the corner
with the tears down her face.
She's got a scar on her wrist
for every mistake.
The fairytale life is all that she wants,
but instead she has nightmares
that never cease to haunt.
She feels like she's caught,
only wants the pain to stop.
But where can she go?
Never been someone
love has cared to know.

He holds his composure
as the belt comes down again.
His daddy's respect
is something he'll never gain.
Cause Daddy's never sober,
but his time is almost over,
the clock's almost out.
He feels like he's caught,
only wants the pain to stop.
But where can he go?
Never been someone
love has cared to know.

So he boards the train
with all that he's got,
bolted right after Daddy
got himself a date with the cops.
The doors close and he's whisked away,
sees the girl in the corner with so much to say.
Sees the scars on her wrist,
gets familiar with his companion on this endless trip,
away from the pain,
away from the tears.
But where can they go?
Never been anyone love has cared to know.

The author's comments:
At one point in my life, I was the girl in the first stanza. I've been through a lot of hard times through my life, but somehow I found the inspiration to get myself out of it. I met a boy described in the second stanza; he was addicted to drugs, but I fell in love with him. We supported each other on our long trip of self-discovery and kept one another holding on. I've never met someone who changed my life as much as he did.
