Mary Lou

Mary Lou,

I hate you
Why don’t you like me?
I walk like you
I talk like you
I do all the same stupid things as you do

I hate you
Why don’t you like me?
I half dress
like you half dress
I remodeled my closet – now I dress to impress.

I hate you
Why don’t you like me?
My pedicure’s blue
like your pedicure’s blue
I shoved my foot in that 5-inch shoe.

I hate you
Why don’t you like me?
I don’t eat so I’m too skinny
I’m too skinny like you’re too skinny
My knees are so knobby – they call me skinny mini
I hate you
Why don’t you like me?
Even though I love to read – I never open a book
like you hate to read – you never open a book
Even since last Christmas when I got a color NOOK.

I hate you
Why don’t you like me?
I walked like you
I talked like you
I did all the same stupid things as you do.

But – finally – I decided I’ll never get through
to you
or be like you
‘cause just like there only one Marc Jacobs Daisy
there’s only one
Mary Lou.
