A Girl Who Cries At night
a girl who cries at night
and wishes on the stars
who prays to a god she’s never met
wanting a life she hasn’t got
who tries to smile
but just cannot
oh the life of miss angela
one who walks
head down
no bounce
no pep
who tiptoes
cautiously
treads carefully
spent
oh the tragedy of miss angela
her hair is her wall
from the outside world
her eyes
only so she can cry
her hands are for gripping each other in fear
her head to store worries that eat her alive
oh the pity on miss angela
no one knows
no one cares
no hope
no light
until
he comes up beside her
and simply asks
“are you all right”
the sun breaks through the clouds
smiles finally come
she’s never heard
such sweet words
oh the new life of our
miss angela
