We dog died the other day
Ma said she went peacefully
In her sleep
I wish she’d wake up

She was a pretty dog
With a golden mane
And chocolate eyes
I wish she’d wake up

She was my best friend
Curled up next to me on the couch
Let me know it would be alright
I wish she’d wake up

When I was a little kid
She let me hug her real tight
And pull her tail
I wish she’d wake up

She can before me
And all my siblings
Before we were ideas
I wish she’d wake up

I hear her playful barking
But it’s just a ghost memory
She’s not there
I wish she’d wake up

No point in wishing
It was her time
I know that
But I wish she’d wake up
