Nightmare
Fire burning bright,
Our only source of light.
I look to you, and in your eyes,
See only the lonely ghosts of your forgotten lies.
Part of me wants to take you back,
But we both know that my heart will shatter with one more crack.
I begin to get up and then you say stop,
I feel my stomach flip and then it drops.
and when you continue to speak, I regret not going,
for your words is like a needle sewing.
They bring my heart back to yours to mend a broken seam,
and that's when I wake, thanking God it was just a dream
