Inside my chest
There's a cupcake
Beating and flowing with life
Thick with frosting
It's vanilla, your favorite kind

I was happy - as content as I could ever be
Until you took your claws
Your black claws of love
Slit open my chest
And stole my cupcake
From its perfect little nest

I didn't scream or fight
The stupidity was mine
I just sat back and watched
As you took your sweet time

You held it for a while
All along it was fake
Then, savagely, when I let my guard down
You bit into my cupcake

You bit it in two
And what could I do
But sit there and watch?

I watch the frosting devoured
The sprinkles assaulted
As your rip my cupcake in two

But no, you can't leave it at that
You can't just have my other half
You eat the whole thing
Wolf it right down
So there's nothing left
To put back in my chest
Once you've gone.

This was actually inspired by my cupcake pj's and what a cupcake could symbolize rather than something that actually happened to me.
