Easter Egg

I am an Easter egg with a thin chocolate shell.
If you taste me, you might see what's inside.
On the outside, I look perfect.
Pastel colors, neatly blended.
A delicacy.
But if you were to look closer, I have tiny cracks.

I have a thin chocolate shell.
It hides my imperfections.
I see the other candies, as one by one they are eaten.
Their eater sighs in contentment.
Chocolate.
I'm hidden in the shadows, which is good.
They don't want to taste what's inside.

I have a thin chocolate shell.
The pink looks pretty, almost too good to eat.
But you don't want to eat me.
For when they made me,
They replaced the sugar with salt,
So all you taste is bitterness.
Salt.

I have a thin chocolate shell.
Just by looking at me, you can't tell,
But inside, I'm rotten.
Rotten.
They reach towards me,
Bite into me,
Expecting more of the same,
But no.

I'm thrown away,
The rest are kept,
And eaten.
Savored,
My chocolate shell can save me now.
