What do I hear?
Could he really have returned?
Was that my imagination?
Could that be his car door?
Could he really have decided to come home?
Do I dare hope?
Has he finally come to his senses?
That can’t possibly be him!
Would he come back after abandoning me?
No, it’s not him
He will never come back
It will always be imagination and hopes
If he truly cared
He would have come back by now

The author's comments:
i wrote this peice about when my dad left. after he left i didn't see him for several years but i always hoped he would come back fo me.
