Inside- - - - - - - -
Tightened hands
bloodshot hearts
Veins that strain

Outside - - - - - - - - -
A chirp carried on the wind,
A boy learns to ride a bike

Inside the world tilts on the edge¬–
The edge of oblivion and utopia
Shall the acrobat fall?

A dusty smell that fills

disrupts
encases
the senses,
Pared with rust colored carpets
-A fan that swings as it rotates-
Walls that
echo
the sounds
Sounds,
that are lost.
lost.
lost on deaf ears.

A
g u n s h o t
in his smile,
The negotiator turns to both
A war ended
Written
in ink
Is ongoing………………
Until
written
in
blood.

The author's comments:
This was written based on an event where two rival gangs signed a pack, in a mosque, to cease fighting. I was given a picture of the room where it all occurred, and nothing else. This is my interpretation of what took place there.
