Here and gone
Lost so fast
Off and on
So quickly, present turns to past

Seconds
They fade
Seconds
They’ve never stayed

Here and there
It runs away
No room for air
The past, a gloomy gray

Here, the past will always live
Never forgive
The memories, the lies
Tearful goodbyes

No one sees it
They fear to relive it
Want to forget it
Can’t release it

Seconds
They fade
Seconds
They’ve never stayed

No one knows
How many actually care?
Where the past goes
The knowledge is more then they can bear

No one knows
Why should they try?
To figure out why there are no arrows
That point back to all the lies

One second is precious
The next is horrid
Some moments left you breathless
Some you simply hated

Seconds
They fade
Seconds
They’ve never stayed

One second fades away
And another replaces it
But it, too, quickly passes away
And a new one is lit

One second, one life
As fragile as a dove
The past like a knife
Always lingering above

People move on
They try to forget
Because they wish it were gone
The past becomes a threat

Seconds
They fade
Seconds
They’ve never stayed

People dream
Some wish they didn’t
They smile when they want to scream
Never forgetting dreadful moments

People wish time would work quicker
Though some wish it would stay
Some make their wish obey
Opening a bottle of liquor

Time comes, time goes
The burning flame of life moves with it
As the wind blows
It keeps moving forward, as long as the flame remains lit

Seconds
They fade
Seconds
They’ve never stayed

Time takes prisoners
And never lets them go
We are time’s captures
Unable to say no

Time keeps on going
But we can’t keep up
Time keeps growing
But we can’t back up

Seconds
They fade
Seconds
They’ve never stayed

The future is always changing its shape
The present always leaves but the past we can never escape
