Courage is an attribute,
Something desired,
A thing that many people will stop to admire
My cousin in the army, is oh so strong,
But sometimes I think that his job is wrong.
Instead of using words, to express his anger,
He uses planes with bombs, weapons of danger.
Innocent men are tortured and killed,
They just need to be grilled and grilled.
In my opinion fighting is messed-up,
It is not courage, but countries struggling for the top
What is courage you may ask?
I hope to believe that courage is,
A strength deep down that never gives
Courage is an attribute,
Something desired,
A thing that many people will stop to admire.
Even though I don’t approve,
The army is what my cousin will choose,
Yet term, after term,
I begin to see,
The pain in his eyes when he leaves his family.
And then I know
That he is the one,
Who has the most courage of them all,
To support our country, not afraid to fall.
I hope someday, to be oh so strong,
As my cousin in Iraq.
I pray, one day he’ll finally be home,
Where he belongs, never alone.
We’ll greet him with open arms,
Tears running down our face,
For he will finally be here,
Locked in our embrace.
