The Beast

I understand the message of Beauty and the Beast
Very cute
I get the point of the story
That you should love everyone
No matter how they look

But when I was sitting at play practice
One day after watching a performance of
The classic Disney play
My mind instantly began to wonder

Wouldn’t it be common knowledge that the Prince had turned into a Beast?
I mean if Obama randomly turned into a monster
You’d bet it be all over the papers
And why is the candlestick guy the only one in the whole show
With a French accent?
Was he some sort of foreign exchange student?

And, the root of all my questioning,
How sickening is it that Belle fell in love with the Beast?
That’s classic Stockholm syndrome right there
(Fall in love with your kidnapper, for those who don’t know)

Maybe I’m just biased toward the show
Because it always makes me sad
For fairy tales are only fairy tales

Beauties don’t really fall in love with beasts
At least from what I know
I want to cry whenever I think of the beauty
Because
The beat was better off
Dying in the end
Anyway
