Petrichor
The calm before storm
The smell before rain
I absorb it
As I absorb everything else
The movement of a wave
Taking the bad thoughts out to sea
It whispers, “hush” as it crashes
Dusk passes after a summer day
The sky and I both go to rest
And if not
Constellations take its place
I study them like a map
Pale white glow illuminates
This all makes me wonder
If we are doing it right
Living as we should
Maybe we take life too seriously
Maybe we exist for the pure purpose
To experience, to absorb
