Daddy' Girl
I know it has been hard,
For you and momma
You were young,
Just 13 and 16
Now 18 years have gone and passed
And it’s time for me to go
I haven’t made the mistakes you have made
Yet you still worry for me
Just a short time and I’ll be gone
I will leave and face the world on my own
I was your first born
Your own little girl
You were scared at first
Then it all settled in
When you held me in your arms
Soon I will be off to follow my dreams
To make a better person out of myself
Then one day I will fall in love,
You will have to give me away
To a man you’ve come to know
No matter how much you don’t want to
You know it’s what I want
I may move far away
Or stay close by
No matter where I may go
I will still be your daughter
And always love you
Even after I leave home and settle down
I will come home and visit
I will never lose my love for you and momma
And I will always be daddy’s girl
