I clench my cheeks
I bite my lips
I will not shed a tear.
I've been taught as a boy
That I must resist
To do this is to show fear.
I'll win the battle,
Within myself,
But I can feel the end is near.
The cure won't help,
With lyrics lost,
I hope I can still persevere.
All eyes turn and stare,
To see what I'll do,
I hope they missed that tiny tear.
