I awake and sit up
He’s sitting right in front of me
Smiling not ten feet away

I get up and walk to him
He stands up to met me
I reach out
Something stops me
That’s when I noticed the glass

I’m trapped behind
A wall of glass
With no end and
No hope of getting out
The worst part is
He’s on the other side

We sit next to the glass
Next to each other
We put our hands
Up to the glass
Touching, but not quite

The seconds tick by
Then the minutes
I don’t know
How long it’s been
But it feels like a year

I know what I want
I want him
I know how I feel
I love him
I know what I need
I need to be with him

I start to cry because
I know, I don’t know how
But I just know
I will never get out
He will never get in
And he will never leave
We will always be so close
But we will never be together
