Look at me, I am beautiful.
Look into my eyes.
Look at my face.
One would not know I’m affected by race.
They label me because I’m black. They speak abusively behind my back.
Where there’s trouble they see my face, one would never know I’m affected by race.
I love education, not segregation but it seems I’m always involved in some altercation.
Sometimes I feel like I’m taking up space.
Although I’m intelligent,wise and full of grace.
One would not know I’m affected by race.
School should be a place to achieve a place to learn but as for me I continue to get burned. Burned by my teachers, my peers and the administrators. Little do they I feel they’re all instigators.
My mom raised me to be pure and chaste.

I wish I didn’t have to feel this way.
I would like to have something positive to say.
My heart is full of grief and sorrow, oh well maybe I’ll feel differently tomorrow, although I do feel this way today.
