New Sight

I was seeing the world
Through vail-covered eyes
I never realized
Just how much I was hurting myself
And those close to me
By living each day
Without life

My soul was crying out
For the Lord to save me
But I could not hear Him
I could not even hear
My own spirit
As it cried for me to listen
My ears were plugged

My heart felt heavy
Nothing could take away this burden
This pain was too much
But I would not
Could not
Let anyone in

I walked each day
As an empty shell
I was completely hollow
Sometimes I would even wonder
If I died
Would I really be missed

No one knew how much
I really was hurting
But they all knew
That I was hurt
They had no clue
How far I had fallen
But they knew
I was falling
This pain I had felt
Had caused my heart to ice over

Now things are different
Things are changing
The plugs in my ears
Have been loosened
The vail over my eyes
Is slowly being lifted

I feel that everything
Is starting to fall
Right into place
Maybe this lost angel
Can truly be found
After all this time

I made great friends
Allowed people into my life
I stopped myself
From pushing them away

I feel the Lord
Is watching me now
I feel His hands on me
Giving me
That encouraging push forward
That He was waiting to give me
Now all I can do
Is trust in Him
And the path put before me

I am able to see
Just a little more
My vail almost gone
I praise the Lord
For giving me new sight
I can be saved
And so can you
If you just have faith in Him
