I once had a use, a purpose, a skill
Before the occasion a shoe doth kill
Fallen suddenly from my place
Condemned now by the human race
Suddenly there was a thwack!
Abruptly I began to crack!
Green fluid drips all around
Slowly leaking to the ground
Lying broken on the floor
Eternally useless forevermore

The author's comments:
My favorite green highlighter got ran over by a car. Within a few days of this tragic event I found someone else's green highlighter had been stepped on and crushed as well. It was a sad week for highlighters.
