Gone

They’re not there
Anymore
Gone
Taken
To a world where colors swirl and you’re oh
So
High
And you
Feel
Good
Leaving behind an empty shell
I
Wonder
What home
accepts that shell
Gives
The portal to that high world
Shells raise shells
Raise
Shells
Raise
Shells
Broken
Discarded
Ignored
Looked down upon, never given a chance, never a hope
Just a high
I don’t know where they’ve gone
In that world
If they want to go
Farther
Go home
Come back
I
Just
Know
They’re
Gone

A bleak, poignant poem that shows the hurt felt in losing a friend, possibly to drugs. The spareness of the language is very effective.
