“Poor man on the hospital bed
Eyes glazed over
Lips unmoving

I speak to him
Probably doesn’t hear
Poor man on the hospital bed.
He doesn’t answer

Unthinking, unmoving, unfeeling
Poor man on the hospital bed
He’s trapped”

“Poor boy by my hospital bed
He speaks to me
Trying to comfort me
Feels sorry for me

I feel sorry for him
Poor boy by my hospital bed
He lives a bound life

I can’t see the world that he does
So I am free

I chase rainbows
I fly with birds
I swim with mermaids
I ride a unicorn
Everyday

I can escape
But he has eyes
He has ears
Poor boy by my hospital bed
He’s trapped”
