I don't want to go to school.
Some kids don't like school
Because of all the work.
I don't mind the work.
I don't like school.
Every time I walk in the door,
Heads turn; but for the wrong reason.
People openly point and laugh;
I just want to be accepted.
I try to be:
Prettier, skinnier, tanner.
People tell me
That nobody is perfect;
But everybody seems to be.
Everybody but me.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem when given the topic of social exclusion for a school project. I thought of all the people who were constantly made fun of at school and how they must feel; and was inspired to write this poem.
