Starring in the looking glass
looking at who stares back.
Is that me? Yes.
Which me? Theres more than one.
I think
I have a past and thats a me
That one I think of in my sleep,
the things I did and didn't do
the me who was and used to be
The one I see when I pass
in front of the looking glass.
But then there is another me
the me I always am, the me that is
The one who tells me what to do
and takes me through the day
The me I see at a glance
in the looking glass.
Still there is another me,
the me of what could be, the future
endless possibilities.
The mold of me that moves and bends
Ignores the others, independently
Free thinking, so free
This me wakes me up
And moves me forward,
Up up and gone to time beyond
The other, less omniscient mes.
The one I see when I pass
Without starring in the looking glass.
Because I decide who this me will be
The looking glass can only reflect
Remind and repeat,
It cannot create.
So avoid the looking glass
In favor of the inner eye.
It shows less of you but more of who
Your me is trying to become.
